Why I Want To Be A Blackbelt

by Patrick Conroy
(Las Vegas, NV)

There are many reasons why I want to be a black belt. One reason is because it will increase my discipline, my respect and respect for others. Because as a blackbelt you need to be more firm in your karate.

Another reason is that when defense is needed you know how to protect yourself. You will be safe in those dangerous situations.

I would also want to be a blackbelt so I can teach the lower ranks how to do karate. This would help them protect themselves when in danger. I would also want to teach by myself sometimes. This would show me how big a responsibility a blackbelt has. Finally I would have to work harder to make sure the lower ranks can do the strikes and blocks correctly.

These last few reasons are about learning new things. I want to be a blackbelt so I can learn new things. There are still many things to karate that I don't know about. I want to be a blackbelt so I can discover those new katas, 1 steps, and maybe even strikes.

Those are the reasons why I would like to be a blackbelt.
